You can finish Cyberpunk 2077 without completing the main story.

Yes, you read that correctly. It is possible to complete Cyberpunk 2077 without finishing the main storyline.

In the interview with Polish site ‘Spider’s Web, Lead Quest Designer at CD Projekt RED Pawel Sasko was asked how long Cyberpunk 2077‘s storyline took testers to complete as well as how long side quests took, which led to this interesting response:

The Witcher had the main storyline and its side threads, and it was our main structure, which we called the ear. In Cyberpunk, on the other hand, we additionally debuted the whole and added additional threads that are quests that can trigger in various circumstances. These quests are never linear.

Going my way?

It seems that the choices you make in creating your character, or to give it its trendier name ‘Life-Path’ affect how your game plays out. Depending on if you choose Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid as a starting block means that you may encounter characters or quests later or earlier on in the game, as Sasko explained:

I can’t tell you in which order these quests will start, because it is the game that decides when you get them depending on your progress…

Side threads cause something that we haven’t done before, namely they modify the main thread – and in such a way that you may not complete the main thread at all, but you can end the game and receive completely different epilogues than another player who chose a different life path and he made other choices, met other characters and built other relationships with them.

I should’ve read the TripAdvisor rating.

So it looks like the overall Cyberpunk 2077 experience will be unique for every player, So you may have to complete the game several times over to get every possible ending… if 100% completion is your thing.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled for release 19th November 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are expected in 2021.
