Xbox Insiders Getting Discord Voice Chat

Xbox Insiders Getting Discord Voice Chat

Xbox has announced that official Discord support is coming to Xbox consoles.

As Xbox notes, players will be able to chat “with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from your console”.

The new update should make it easier for you to connect with your friends across mobile, PC, and elsewhere.

Whilst the update is currently only available for Xbox Insiders, Xbox has noted it will be available for everyone “soon”.

What’s more, the new update will feature helpful quality of life assurances, such as a “streamlined audio experience”.

You’ll be able to see who is in a call with you and who is speaking all through your Xbox console. You’ll also be able to adjust the sound and even switch between Discord voice channels and Xbox game chat.

For even greater access, you’ll be able to link your Discord account with your Xbox account, too.

To do this, all you will need to do is open the guide on your Xbox using the Xbox controller. Then, go to Parties & chats. Then, click Try Discord Voice on Xbox.

This should bring up an option to scan a QR code, which will take you to the Discord and Xbox apps, enabling you to connect and set up a two-way link between the two platforms.

However, if you have previously linked your Xbox account with your Discord account, you will, instead, have to reconnect.

And, that’s it.

Xbox has added that once connected (or reconnected), you’ll be able to hop into a channel on Discord and talk just like you would with the native PC app.

On the mobile Discord app, you’ll also be able to see a new option; Join on Xbox.

This will allow you to connect your Discord Voice chat to your Xbox family of consoles through the Xbox mobile app.

It sounds more complicated than it is, trust me.

Again, this update is, currently, only available for Xbox Insiders. However, it will roll out to every Xbox user within the coming weeks.
