Xbox Cloud Gaming Coming to iOS this Year

Xbox has some good news for Apple users; the Cloud streaming service will be coming to iOS devices in 2021.

In a recent Xbox Wire post, Xbox explained that the team is working hard to bring the xCloud to iOS in Spring 2021;

“…we will take the next step in our journey to reach more players around the world by making…Xbox Game Pass Ultimate available on…iOS devices through a mobile web browser [abridged]. By adding over a billion devices as a path to playing in the Xbox ecosystem, we envision a seamless experience for all types of players”.

Furthermore, Xbox will be bringing the Game Pass Ultimate (and, by proxy, its cloud streaming services) to new markets. For the first time ever, Australia, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico will receive the programme.

Of course, the key thing you’ll note is that iOS devices will need to utilise a web browser to use the streaming service offered. This is due to the previous embargo Apple set up against Microsoft, Google, and other cloud-based services. It’s a long and convoluted saga, but you can read all about it here. You know, in case you forgot or somehow missed it last year.

We’ll have more information about the upcoming iOS version of the Game Pass Ultimate and xCloud services when they become available.
