WWE 2K Battlegrounds Announced After WWE 2K21 Cancellation

The WWE has officially announced WWE 2K Battlegrounds, an arcade style wrestling game being developed by Sabre Interactive.

2K Sports will be releasing what they are describing as a “completely new WWE gaming experience.”

Battlegrounds looks to be more of a fun part game spin on the wrestling genre compared to the realistic style of recent years.

Alligators?!

The game looks incredibly wacky and fun straight off the bat with an alligator the star of the video!

He/She/It/The Creature manages to outshine wrestling legends like The Rock and John Cena.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is set to release this fall and could be the change of pace in WWE games that will draw fans in, especially after the disappointing last few titles.

Sabre Interactive is the same team that developed NBA 2K Playgrounds and Battlegrounds could possibly be a budget title in a similar vein to their NBA outing.

No WWE 2K21 This Year

The announcement of a different gaming direction for a WWE game will be welcomed after the recent cancellation of WWE 2K21.

2K Sports have given the developers Visual Concepts more time to polish the next realistic installment and listen to player feedback.

2K will be looking to release the next game in the franchise next year under the guidance of Patrick Gilmore.

Gilmore will be heading up the project with Visual Concept after joining the team from Amazon, where he worked on MMO New World.

The WWE 2K20 Curse

This move comes after the disastrous release of WWE 2K20, that was plagued with glitches and more bugs than the movie Antz.

Or A Bugs Life, both movies are pretty chocked full of the wriggly bastards.

I haven’t been excited by a wrestling game in some time, but this is undoubtedly on my radar with the idea of throwing my friends wrestler to an alligator too tempting to pass up.

Though will it better than the greatest wrestling game of all time, WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain.

We can only hope.
