It wouldn’t be a Ubisoft game, if it didn’t ship with game-breaking bugs now would it? It seems that Watch Dogs: Legion is no exception.
Uncovered via Eurogamer’s playthrough, it seems that the game will indeed crash your Xbox One causing it to shut down, leaving you unable to finish the main story.
Oh the irony…
The bug appears at about the 6-8 hour mark, during a mission called ‘404’ (Seriously Ubisoft?). Partway through playing, the game freezes and displays a message to the player stating that the Xbox is shutting down due to ‘overheating’.
Incidentally, multiple reviewers have claimed that they too have encountered this game ending bug whilst playing it on the Xbox One X, Ubisoft’s actual platform of choice for reviews.
Other platforms reportedly seem to be game-breaking bug-free. Although minor bugs on the PS4 Pro version have been noted by other reviewers. But what’s a minor bug between friends?
Ubisoft has responded by saying that ‘We’re aware of this issue and there will be a hotfix due to be released on 30th October which should help’. That’s the day after launch by the way.
I’d hold off buying the game until the hotfix actually works if I were you.
Watch Dogs: Legion is out 29th October on all platforms, with the PS5 version coming November 12th. The Xbox Series X version is out on the consoles launch day (November 10th).
