Untitled Goose Game Wins Game of the Year Award at DICE

My uncrowned Game of the Year 2019, Untitled Goose Game, has finally been given the recognition it deserves!

As of the DICE Awards ceremony 2020, The Game of the Year is Untitled Goose Game. House House’s little indie game beat other big-name competition like SEKIRO, The Outer Worlds, and Resident Evil 2.

The DICE awards are peer-assessed and seen as the Oscars of the games industry. Some 22,000 members of the industry vote on categories.

And a little indie game about a goose who terrorises a small English village took home the gold! What a time to be alive and be a gaming journalist.

Take that SEKIRO!

The eponymous anti-hero (the Goose) also managed to win the “Outstanding Character Performance” award as well. Other notable contemporaries in this esteemed list include;

  • Dave Fennoy for his role as Lee Everett in Telltale’s The Walking Dead,
  • Melina Juergens as Senua in Hellblade, and
  • Christopher Judge as Kratos in God of War 2018.

However, the Goose isn’t the only non-human recipient of this award as The Last Guardian‘s Trico won it back in 2016. Isn’t gaming a weird place?

The full list of this year’s DICE Awards winners are as follows;

So, do you agree with any of these categories (barring the obvious choice for GotY, of course!). Who do you think should have won? And what should they have won? Let us know in the comments section down below.
