Ubisoft Montreal, was the subject of a major armed police operation yesterday, which turned out to be caused by a hoax 911 call.
The building, which is responsible for such games like the newly released Assassins Creed: Valhalla and Hyperscape, was locked down by local police, while they waited for specialised armed teams to be deployed to the area.
No-one was hurt after armed police cleared the building and evacuated the employees. Most of whom are still working at home due to the ongoing pandemic. Police found that there was no hostage situation present. The investigation will now turn to who made the 911 call.
Ubisoft has issued a statement praising the SPVM and the courage and composure of the teams working in the building at the time:
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
