Long-forgotten 90s wannabe mascot Ty the Tasmanian Tiger will soon be making a comeback courtesy of Krome Studios.
Courtesy of a successful Kickstarter campaign, the Ty remaster will make its way to Nintendo Switch’s eShop on 31st March. Other consoles are set to follow.
Taking to a blog update on Kickstarter, Krome Studios took the opportunity to provide a (slightly vague) release schedule.
Basically, the Switch version is a definite right now. Presuming everything goes to plan, a PlayStation 4 edition will arrive “as soon as possible” following the Switch release. And then the Xbox One version will ship sometime “after that”.
For anyone who missed out on Ty the Tasmanian Tiger the first time around, time for a small history lesson. Designed in a way to make other video game mascots look obsolete, Ty was a badass. In fact, one of Ty‘s main ad-campaigns showed Crash, Spyro, and Sonic in intensive care. Have a look here;
Ty was equal parts 90s angst and classic Aussie spunk. The remaster’s most recent video (Nintendo Switch gameplay) can be seen below;
Developer Krome took to Kickstarter in an effort to fund the new console ports. It only took three days for the campaign to reach its goal. The campaign asked for $50,000. This quickly turned into $132 thousand.
