The recently revealed Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will, apparently, not contain any microtransactions.
This is coming straight from developers Toys For Bob’s mouth.
Toys For Bob took to Twitter, stating;
“We’re seeing confusion about #MTX in @CrashBandicoot 4 and want to be [crystal emoji] clear: There are NO MICROTRANSACTIONS in #Crash4”.
The news may seem a bit sketchy considering what publishers, Activision, had Beenox do with Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fuelled. The game infamously added microtransactions shortly after launch when all reviews were out.
Added to that, Crash 4 has already been advertised as having pre-order bonuses in the form of the “Totally Tubular” skins. Toys For Bob commented on this as well;
“As a bonus, the Totally Tubular skins are included in all digital versions of the game”.
This, obviously, doesn’t dismiss the listing from the Microsoft Store that suggests the game will contain in-game purchases. However, at this stage, we can’t say one way or another if Toys For Bob will stay true to their word or if Activision will, once again, further monetise a game.
At the risk of making it a cliché, time will tell.
