The war between Xbox and Playstation fans has been a constant for generations. Microsoft emerged victorious with the Xbox 360 while being floored by Sony’s Playstation 2 the generation before. And to be fair, we knew that the Playstation 4 did better in sales last generation. However, we’ve never had any official numbers since Microsoft stopped reporting sales figures early in the generation. Until now.
Microsoft and Sony have debated each other over Microsoft’s intentions regarding purchasing Activision Blizzard. This discussion has been publically followed in Brazil by Administrative Council for Economic Defense CADE. This has led to a number of revelations about the ongoing war between the two consoles. One such find is the fact that Sony pays certain developers to not put their games on Xbox Game Pass.
According to an official document the Playstation 4 sold twice the amount of the Xbox One and since Sony has officially stated they sold 117,2 million Playstation 4s that means that the Xbox One sold around 50-60 million units.
Microsoft states in the documen that “Playstation will continue to have a strong market position” and will most likely out sell the Xbox Series X/S this generation as well.
