They’ll Be Back: Wii U Title Wonderful 101 is Smashing Kickstarter Getting Over $1 mil For Remaster

After a fleeting appearance on the ill-fated Nintendo Wii U, The Wonderful 101 looks set to soar from the ashes of defeat and rise up to the dizzying heights of the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Steam

How many more good games are going to come back from the oblivion of the Wii U? Apparently, there is a lot more to come.

This time it is action superhero game – The Wonderful 101. And it seems that people are dying to see its return.

In almost 12 hours of the Kickstarter campaign for The Wonderful 101: Remaster, developer PlatinumGames has collected over $1 million.

Originally, developers were aiming to get $50,000 to launch a remaster on Switch. Now, with stretch goals being smashed one after the other, we should be getting Steam and PS4 versions as well.

As a part of their Kickstarter campaign, PlatinumGames also run a Social Media challenge to unite and engage the backers. The Defence of Blossom City is another way to unlock rewards. For example, the current mission, if completed, adds another 20 pages to the artbook

Among the general rewards that backers get are comic books, vinyl record with the soundtrack and even custom controllers. But the most unusual would be getting blocked on Twitter by PlatinumGames director Hideki Kamiya.

The Original Wonderful 101

Originally, The Wonderful 101 came out in August 2013 on Wii U. It has received praise from the community with 78% critics score and 8.6 user score at Metacritic.

“In this game, players take control of the Wonderful Ones, heroes from all over the world chosen to defend the Earth from all manner extraterrestrial threats! When the peaceful Blossom City comes under attack by alien invaders, Wonder-Red, Wonder-Blue, and the rest of the Wonderful Ones suit up and unite to save the world!”
