The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the upcoming adventure game in which you take control of the unfortunate hobbit Smeagol and his alter ego Gollum, has been delayed until 2022.
The game itself was due to release sometime this year, after being teased back in 2019, with a trailer dropping last year to high fanfare.
In the game, you’ll have a chance to decide which side of the Hobbit is more dominate
While no official explanation has been given for the delay, it is believed that it is down to the games use of the PS5’s ray tracing and the haptic feedback ability on the DuelSense.
Take a look at the teaser trailer below:
Announced alongside the delay was the news that Daedalic Entertainment and NACON, are joining forces in order to publish the game on the new release date…. a ‘fellowship’ if you will.
In a joint press release, both companies explained the reason for teaming up:
The two companies decided to join forces to ensure that the game will meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles. The universe will be faithfully represented thanks to the partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises, the company that holds the adaptation rights to the series by J.R.R. Tolkien.
It just means, you’ll have to wait till 2022 to go romping around Middle-Earth… but stay away from Mordor!
When a more substantial release date is announced, ABG will let you know! Until then… FLY YOU FOOLS!
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is out next year on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch.
