Naughty Dogs’ highly anticipated PlayStation exclusive The Last of Us Part II has been delayed until May 29, 2020. This was originally reported by Kotaku and has since been confirmed via a blog post written by Game Director Neil Druckmann.
The post explains that the team had two choices, “compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.” In a time where Developer crunch is a known factor during the development process, it is great to see that Naughty Dog are doing what is right for the game, and team.
In addition to this reported delay, Jason Schreier added via Twitter that while Ghost of Tsushima doesn’t have a public release date yet, the delay of The Last of Us Part II will result in Sucker Punch Productions’ new open world Samurai adventure being delayed until later in 2020 with it originally being planned for the first half of the year.
Make sure to grab The Last of Us Remastered while it’s free with PS Plus during October!
