The First Gameplay for Baldur’s Gate 3 Will Be Revealed February 27th!

Our first in-depth look at Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming on February 27th 2020! The reveal will start at 15:30 EST/20:30 GMT.

Baldur’s gate 3’s Creative director Swen Vincke will be playing the RPG live on stage at PAX East.

Swen will be talking about the story and game mechanics, as well as being joined by a “very special guest.”

If you’re not able to attend PAX East, don’t worry as the whole event will be live streamed via YouTube.

Good or Evil? Evil, Always Evil

The announcement comes with a teaser of what’s in store.

“You are burdened with a great power devouring you from within.

How far down the path of darkness will you let it take you?

The fate of Faerûn is on your party’s shoulders.

Will you carry it to salvation, or descend with it to hell?”

This tease implies that you’ll have multiple paths through the game’s story. Become the hero or the villain, don’t villains get to have all the fun?

While not much is shown regarding the story, we do already know that the main enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3 are the Mindflayers.

If you’ve seen Stranger Things, you’ll know we mean wizard squids… or something similar.

They’ll be using the secret of nautiloids; world travelling flying vessels, to restore their empire.

Larian Going Big

Larian has been expanding its studio staff to around 350 people and developing new technology just for Baldur’s Gate 3.

According to Larian this will help to allow them to create a truly sprawling RPG with over 100 hours worth of content.

Having just started Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition, this may be my next stop on the tactical RPG train.

Now is a good time to catch up on everything we know about Baldur’s Gate 3 so far.

Hopefully the reveal on the 27th of this month will give us more idea of a release window, so here’s hoping for a 2020 release.

During PAX East next week we’ll expecting big things from Larian, so check back with us for more Baldur’s gate 3 updates!
