Tencent California to Focus on AAA Games

As we look towards the dawn of a new generation of games consoles, Tencent looks to break into the AAA market with new studio LightSpeed LA. Former Rockstar lead Steve Martin heads the studio.

Tencent continues to get bigger.

The super publisher has recently set up shop in California.

GamesIndustry.biz reports that the new studio, LightSpeed LA, will be headed by Steve Martin, formerly of Rockstar fame. Under Martin’s lead, LightSpeed will “focus on the development and publishing of AAA titles”.

Martin went on to say that LightSpeed is;

“ushering a new era of game culture by combining world-class development with a stress-free work environment. From day one, our teams will be focused on building the highest calibre games while promoting integrity, proactivity, collaboration, and creativity”.

Obviously, no games have been listed as being in development from LightSpeed yet. But, you can imagine it will only be a matter of time before something is in the pipelines. We’ll have more on this story as and when it happens.
