Pawel Selinger has left the Dying Light 2 studio after 22 years.
Selinger worked as narration designer on Dying Light 2 for the last two years.
Techland spoke to PC Gamer about the loss of Selinger, but confirmed that exciting news will be coming “soon”;
“Paweł Selinger, [who has been the Narration Designer for the last two years,] decided at the end of 2020 to end his cooperation with Techland and to pursue his further career elsewhere. Paweł spent most of his professional life at Techland and he [among others] takes credit for the success of the series Call of Juarez.
He left a large piece of himself with Dying Light 2, as he worked on the project from the beginning. His duties, ie, the narrative department, were taken over by Piotr Szymanek in October 2020″.

The Light’s not Dead Yet…
Despite losing such an integral part of the team, Techland urged that Dying Light 2 is under no threat. Aside from Szymanek filling the void in the studio’s narrative department, another team member has already covered Selinger’s absence;
“We would like to reassure all fans of the upcoming Dying Light 2 that the position of Art Director is not threatened. [It] has been held by Eric Cochonneau since November 2019. Eric has been taking care of every aspect of the upcoming production ever since. The team under his leadership is doing their best to offer players the best game possible”.
To say that Dying Light 2 has had a rough time already would be an understatement. Techland made the difficult decision to delay Dying Light 2 indefinitely early last year. Not to mention the departure of Chris Avellone for dubious reasons. Now, with Pawel leaving, you’d imagine things might have slowed down to a halt altogether.
That, apparently, doesn’t seem to be the case. We’ll have to wait and see what (and/or when) Dying Light 2 news comes out.
