Take-Two have officially confirmed that they will be purchasing Codemasters, in a note sent to investors today.
The deal, which at first, was reported to be worth £759 million but has now been valued at £726 million, is set to be done and dusted in the first quarter of 2021.
Take-Two, the publishers of GTA and Borderlands, in talks to acquire British publisher Codemasters, who are behind such games as DiRT, F1 and Project Cars.
Take-Two, who already own 2K, Rockstar and Private Division, announced that they have put forward a non-binding proposal to acquire the entire capital share of Codemasters.

In a statement, Take-Two said that:
Take-Two believes that the combination of Take-Two and Codemasters would bring together two world-class interactive entertainment portfolios, with a highly complementary fit between Take-Two’s 2K publishing label and Codemasters in the racing genre.
In addition, Take-Two believes that it can bring benefits to Codemasters’ performance by leveraging Take-Two’s global distribution network and 2K’s core operating expertise in publishing, including live operations, analytics, product development, and brand and performance marketing
Take-Two has until 4th December to announce its firm intention to make an offer for Codemasters.
If all goes well, following due diligence and the all-clear from the competition authority, Codemasters said that they will recommend to their board of directors to accept the deal. Which according to reports could be worth £740 million.
What does this mean for us gamers?
Well, at this point it’s impossible to say.
However, if 2K get their hands on Codemasters, I hate to say it but expect microtransactions in their games. But I could be wrong…couldn’t I?
