On Thursday, Insomniac Games opened the PS5 reveal show with the next game in their Spider-Man continuum. The developers had previously stated the game would see you take over as Miles Morales in an expansion of the original game. This had led some to report that this would be thrown in with a remaster of the original, but fear not, Spider-Man Miles Morales will be standalone game.
It seems that there was quite a bit of confusion within the industry as Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has needed to helpfully clarify the situation on Twitter:
Spider-Man: Lost Legacy?
According to Bloomberg Spider-Man Miles Morales will follow the path that Uncharted: Lost Legacy set out a few years ago. In that it was a standalone, but significantly shorter, game. This means it will likely also be significantly cheaper to reflect the reduced length. In terms of length, the PS4 instalment of Spider-Man took around 40 hours to complete. Even a significantly shorter story should still be a considerable amount of game to get through.
Despite the fact this will be a shorter game to the PS4 original, we’re excited to see what’s in store for a PS5 version. If the videos of load time comparisons that went round are anything to go by, we’re in for an impressively performing game. We think it’s fair to say the gameplay of the original speaks for itself.
Let us know what you’re hoping to see from a PS5 Spider-Man. Will you be picking it up when it comes out just in time for Christmas?
