Spellbreak a Battle Royale Game with No Guns

Spellbreak is an RPG type of Battle Royale where you are controlling one of six different classes of battlemages as you fight to become the last team standing.

Like most Battle Royale games, Spellbreak drops the players into an arena which slowly shrinks over time with the last surviving team declared the winner. The game differs from other Battle Royales, however, in that it uses magical spells in place of guns. Players can choose from one of six classes: wind, fire, ice, lightning, stone and toxic, which will determine their primary attack type. Each player starts with a gauntlet permanently attached to them which can deal out both primary and secondary attacks.

Seek and Ye Shall Find

As you navigate the map, you will find chests and loot randomly located. It is here that you can pick up a second gauntlet to use. There are other items also that can be found such as health potions and items that replenish your armour.

The two gauntlets can interact with one another. For example if you fire from one gauntlet a toxic cloud, you can follow this up with a fireball from your second gauntlet. Before you can say “Abracadabra” you have a poisonous fire cloud that your opponent has to deal with. Pretty neat!

Spellbreak was released on the 3rd September to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. However, if you’re playing on PC, the game is only available on the Epic Games Store. Regardless of where you choose to play, all versions support cross-play and cross-progression, so you’re free to transition between any platform and continue from where you left off.
