Sony Reveals Logo for PlayStation 5

Sony has revealed the official logo for their upcoming next-gen console, the PlayStation 5. Taking place at this year’s CES 2020 event, the new console’s logo bears a striking resemblance to Sony’s previous logos. And there’s a good reason behind that.
Sony has been consciously building up a recognisable brand. They aren’t going to squander three decades of familiarity.

Annoyingly, many articles you’ll read about it online will denote all the #playstation5 jokes on Twitter. Or the memes that the reveal has generated.
We here at Any Button Gaming won’t stoop to that level, however. (Well, I don’t know about the other editors, but I won’t). Instead, what we (I) will do is praise Sony and PlayStation for keeping to their plan.
As the young kids say, “you do you, boo.” (Do they still say that?)

Jokes, memes, and copycat logos aside, Sony is playing their hand close to their chest. The only “official” image we have is still the dev-kit. Few details were shown off in an image, including;
- 3D audio sound
- Haptics/adaptive triggers
- Ultra-high-speed SSD
- Hardware-based ray tracing
- Ultra HD Blu-ray
An image of a PlayStation Dual-Shock 5 controller with an LED screen has also been floating around.
All eyes will surely be on PlayStation come their next State of Play broadcast or even this year’s E3. Stay tuned for more news on the PS5 when it becomes available, right here, at Any Button Gaming.
