Shawn Layden has recently commented on what he believed was one of his “greatest achievements”. The former Chairman of PlayStation Worldwide Studios takes to Twitter to talk about his former workplace.
On the subject of Sony’s acquisition of Insomniac Games, Layden Tweeted the following;
“Seems a lifetime ago. Yet one of the greatest achievements I was fortunate to associate myself with at PlayStation. So good, so right. Continue to greatness you crazy Insomniacs!”
The studio has had a long working relationship with Sony – as long-term fans of Insomniac (or PlayStation, for that matter) will know.
Starting back in the PlayStation One days, Insomniac’s own crowning achievement – Spyro the Dragon – put the developers on the map. From there, the studio made the Ratchet & Clank series.
Perhaps the team’s greatest achievement, however, is Marvel’s Spider-Man. The game is often touted as one of the best superhero experiences ever made. So, you could argue that Insomniac has always been a Sony studio.
However, it wasn’t until August 2019 when Sony actually acquired the studio. To have been a part of that deal must surely be a good thing to look back on.
