SavyGamer Closed Down

After 13 long years, SavyGamer has closed down. Operator Lewie Procter made the unfortunate announcement on Friday the 13th – surely, unlucky for some. All we can say is, Thank you Lewie

Lewie Procter, the long-time runner of SavyGamer, has made the unfortunate announcement: SavyGamer has closed down.

SavyGamer acted as a go-between for gamers, picking out some of the best offers on a wide range of platforms. The deals weren’t always the most up-to-date, but they were amongst the best you could find anywhere.

Procter made the announcement 13th March on Twitter with a link to the update online:

“Announcement: I am closing down SavyGamer”.

Short and sweet, Procter added a link to the full announcement on SavyGamer itself:

“Effective immediately, I have made the decision to wind SavyGamer down. This means that from this point onward there will not be any more video game deals posted to this site.

For just shy of 13 years, I’ve worked tirelessly to present you wonderful people with the best prices for all your gaming needs, and it wouldn’t have been worth a damn if you hadn’t all put your faith in me to do so to the best of my ability.

It’s been a genuine honour and privilege to serve you all during this time. By using this site, sharing it with friends, and supporting me in many other ways, you’ve all made it possible for SavyGamer to last as long as it has. 13 years is ancient in internet terms. Thank you for everything, you’ll never know how much it has meant to me”.

Why?

It’s a heartfelt and poignant message to Procter’s fans, all of whom have helped keep SavyGamer running for as long as it had. But the main question you might have is “why?”

“As to why I’ve reached this decision?”, Procter added. “For some time now I’ve been keen to take on new challenges and to push myself to try something different. I’ve not been creatively fulfilled by just maintaining the same routine for quite a while, and soon I will be moving into something more like a regular job, where I get to work as part of a team”

For fans of SavyGamer, it is a massive blow. Not only because we will have to source our own deals now, but because of the community Procter established. Procter noted that he will “leave the site up for the time being, as an archive of all the information and text shown here”.

That doesn’t mean he’ll change his mind, however.

“…but for the foreseeable future, this will be a dormant website, with nothing new posted to it”.

Thankfully, Procter will still be doing stuff in video games. He even told fans to stay tuned to his Twitter as he’ll make more announcements soon. Thank you, Lewie. It was a Hell of a run!
