Samurai Jack Where Your Actions Will Determine a New Legend

Samurai Jack originally aired on Cartoon Network between 2001 to 2004 where it received critical acclaim. The series returned for a final season in 2017 thanks to Adult Swim. Voiced by the original voice-actors, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is an action platform game where your actions will determine a new legend!

If you haven’t watched Samurai Jack, here’s a quick synopsis.

The story starts with the return of Aku (a supernatural shape-shifting demon) who attacks Samurai Jack’s father and their village. Jack’s mother sends him away to train and travel the world. They hope that one day he will return to defeat Aku using the magical katana. Yes, that’s right a magical katana!

Jack returns to his village when he is adult. He finds that Aku has enslaved the villagers including his father. Jack frees the slaves and travels to kill Aku.

Unfortunately, Jack fails as Aku sends him to the future. Here, Jack discovers that many things have changed and that Aku has taken over the world!

This is where the game begins.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is set before Jack’s final fight with Aku. Jack finds himself trapped in alternate timelines throughout human history. He must fight through these different timelines in order to reach Aku and defeat him.

The game will include hack-and-slash gameplay and allow players to wield a variety of different melee and ranged weapons. Equip and master over a dozen different weapons in combat. To increase your power you must train and unlock new skills to support your playstyle.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Emmy Award-winning animated series art style is retained in the game. The developers, Soleil Games, are a small studio from Japan, made up of ex-Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive developers. You can consider them well versed in 3D hack-and-slash games.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time releases on August 21st, on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4 & and PC.
