Rust Heading Towards PlayStation & Xbox

Rust Heading Towards PlayStation & Xbox

Unless you have been living in a post apocalyptic zone, you will have at the very least heard of Rust. No, I am not referring to the flaking coating of iron oxide that is formed on iron or steel by oxidation. I am in fact referring to Facepunch Studios MASSIVE PC game: Rust. Finally, after waiting for quite some time, console players will soon have the opportunity to play this survival game.

Rust is a game about crafting yourself a sturdy base. Protect said base from other players’ raids and also collecting all of the loot. There are survival elements, such as a need for food and water. There are also dangerous wild animals to contend with.

Players are free to be deceptive and aggressive with intense player vs. player combat, but there is potentially even more to be earned with a team of friendly players by your side. In the struggle for survival and supremacy, players can build tiny cabins in the woods to huge scrap metal fortresses in an attempt to stay safe, as well as craft a variety of weapons, bombs and traps.

It sounds as if the guys and gals over at Rust HQ have taken their time on the console version of the game. As Garry Newman, the main man at Facepunch has been quoted as saying:

there’s a lot of rushed, short sighted low frame rate survival games on console and we didn’t want to be in that group. If we release a console version it’s got to perform right and it’s got to play right. It’s got to be the best survival game you can get on a console.

Sounds like they have the right formula but only you can be the judge as to whether they have got it right. Rust releases in the Spring of 2021 for Xbox and PlayStation.
