On the 13th and 14th of October, the Rapture Gaming Festival will be coming to the North East of England. Taking place at the Northumbria University Student’s Union in central Newcastle. The event promises a lively weekend of video game related fun for all ages. The Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite themed gaming zones will ensure that there is plenty to entertain the younger gamers. There will also be plenty for us older folk. Take a look at he Bring-your-own computer LAN party and Retro Zones. These ensure that us more experienced gamers have plenty to paw at. Albeit, ineffectually with our crooked, grizzled, decrepit digits.
In addition, there’s a Virtual Reality zone where you can try out the latest VR games and gear. Maybe even persuade your nan to have a go for maximum comedy effect. There’s also a wide variety of gaming competitions and tournaments. We will be attempting to prove just how bad we really are at gaming. By undoubtedly getting gleefully knocked out of the first round of the Smash Brothers tournament by some grinning rando. Once the sun goes down there’s the alluringly entitled 18+ Gaming After-party. While this sounds as though it may offer all manner of 18+ related hijinks. We’re fairly sure that this just means that there will be a whole host of booze to try.
For those who are below the legal booze consumption age perhaps the main appeal of this event will be the long list of gaming YouTubers and streamers who will be in attendance. Admittedly, we haven’t heard of most of them. Apparently, this is because we are old and embarrassing and why are we dressed as Chun Li? The reason, of course, is the ever-entertaining cosplay event. The Raptures cosplay event gives you the opportunity to become your favourite character. In addition to your standard Mario’s and Lara Croft’s, there’s always a wide variety of impressive cosplayers from even the most obscure of gaming franchises.
In previous years this event has always been fun, lively and well attended. So if anything about it tickles your proverbial fancy then it’s advisable to book your tickets as far in advance as possible. If you haven’t done so already point your browser and debit card in the direction of https://rapturegamingfestival.com/newcastle/ right now.
Of course, the roving reporters at Any Button Gaming, those stalwart veterans of the Covertape Wars, will be in attendance to bring you news of all the goings on. If you find us you can shower us with small change and stroke our beautiful faces [please don’t stroke our faces – Ed].
