Rainbow Six Siege adds Sam Fisher to the roster

It looks like Sam Fisher isn’t gathering dust at Ubisoft after all, as Sam gets added to the Rainbow Six Siege roster, all be it with a new codename ‘Zero’, in a new update titled ‘Operation: Shadow Legacy’.

While we don’t get much from the trailer, albeit his iconic google dots (Which turned out to be the lights on his gun) and the night vision ping, more has been revealed via Sam’s official page on the Rainbow Six Siege website.

In a letter written by Lena to Harry, She goes into Sam’s background for arriving at Rainbow:

He seems to have kept in good shape despite being off active duty, though he also seemed a little more frazzled than usual when he arrived. I wonder what has Zero using Rainbow as his home base, he wouldn’t be here without his own motivations and we should take advantage of his experience. His military expertise will be a good balance to your psychological insight. As he’s coming in as the first member of the Rainbow Operational Staff (ROS), I’m curious and cautious of the changes he’ll bring to our organization. I’m sure his instruction will be a necessary, and painful, experience. I imagine there’s something he’s not telling me regarding his sudden appearance, but that’s not surprising. Zero operates on a need to know basis, I’m sure he’ll tell me when he thinks I need to know.

While it’s been a while since we last saw Sam in his own game, (Splinter Cell: Blacklist back in 2013) a small cameo in the trailer for the mobile game Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad, and with rumours circulating that a new Splinter Cell may be on the way, maybe Sam Fisher isn’t out to pasture as first thought. As he puts it himself… we should know better than to write him off.

The full reveal for Sam Fisher in Rainbow Six Siege takes place 16th August 7pm GMT,
