Quantic Dream Has “a Lot of Surprises” Coming in 2020

Quantic Dream, creators of the critically acclaimed Heavy Rain and less acclaimed Beyond: Two Souls, has been relatively quiet since their 2018 release Detroit: Become Human.

However, CEO and Founder, David Cage, took to Twitter yesterday with a somewhat cryptic message for fans:

Ok, I’m late… but I wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! I wish you the best for 2020. 2019 has been an amazing year for the studio. 2020 should be even more exciting! We have a lot of surprises to come for our fans, so stay tuned! And in 2020 more than ever: be deviant!

What’s Cage Dreaming up?

The message doesn’t give much away, other than the fact that Quantic Dream is working on something new. Only time will illuminate what this ends up being. Yet there are a couple of clues for the eagle-eyed.

Detroit: Become Human's resistance leader, Markus.

For anyone that didn’t play Detroit, the term ‘deviant’ refers to an android who has broken through their programming and gained sentience. So this could suggest that whatever Cage is working on has something to do with Detroit.

Given the time since it’s release, DLC may be unlikely. Also, none of Cage’s previous games has had sequels – at least not in recent years. So that may be out of the question too.

Though if the mention of “deviant” is significant, the release of Detroit DLC or even a follow-up would make a lot of sense.

Another possibility is an impending announcement of an entirely new IP across every platform. Until recently QD had exclusivity with PlayStation. But last year a PC port of QD titles confirmed that going forward their releases will be available on all platforms from launch.
