Pokémon Let’s Go: How to find all the Rare Pokémon

It’s a real treat to go back to the original Pokémon game region of Kanto in full 3D and thanks to the Pokédex’s habitat locator most Pokémon are easy to find. Though there are some that don’t appear on the habitat locator and must be found randomly whilst exploring the routes of the region. The three legendary birds, as well as Porygon and Dragonite, must be randomly encountered when travelling the routes of Kanto, they can be hard to find so here’s a list of places to have a look as you’re trying to catch them all.

Using the newly introduced Lure item is the best way to find these elusive Pokémon, as they will increase the spawn are of rare Pokémon for a short time. Lures can be purchased after defeating Misty in Cerulean City.

Catch combo of 31+

To increase your chances of spawning rare Pokémon it’s advised to get your catch combo to 31 or over as this increases the chance for rare Pokémon to spawn by six times! A significant boost when used alongside a Lure, and the easiest way to complete your Pokédex.

See below a list of where to find all the rarest Pokémon; listed by Pokédex number:

001 Bulbasaur – Viridian Forest or Given as a Gift.

004 Charmander – Route 3, Route 4, Rock Tunnel or Given as a Gift.

006 Charizard – Found by flying over nearly all routes except Route 5, Route 9, and Route 20. Look for routes with physical paths on the Town Map.

007 Squirtle – Routes 24, Route 25 Seafoam Islands, or Given as a Gift.

106 Hitmonlee – Victory Road or Given as a Gift at the Dojo.

107 Hitmonchan – Victory Road or Given as a Gift at the Dojo.

Finding these rare spawns will help players easily round out their Pokedex. Then you can work toward unlocking Meltan to make sure you get your Pokedex fully completed.

To acquire Meltan you will have to transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Let’s Go to receive a Mystery Box. Once the Mystery Box is opened in Pokémon Go you will be able to catch Meltan for a limited time.

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee are available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
