To start off the new year, Niantic announced an Adventure Sync Hatchathon event for Pokémon GO. Now half way through, the event runs from January 2, 2018 to January 15, 2018.
Late last year, Niantic added an Adventure Sync function to the app. Some of the difficulties players had in the past was in hatching eggs. Previously Trainers were required to have the app open in order for it to record any distances walked for hatching purposes. The addition of the Adventure Sync function now allows the app to record the Trainers steps even when the app is not open. To do this it will connect to either the Apple Health on Apple devices or Google Fit on Android devices. Both of these apps track steps even when not open.
During this month’s Adventure Sync Hatchathon Pokémon Trainers will experience an increase in the likely hood of receiving 5 km and 10 km eggs from PokéStops and Gym. Along with the increase of further distance egss, Trainers will also receive 2 x Hatch Candy, 2 x Hatch Stardust for every egg hatched.
If you haven’t joined the Hatchathon or opted into Adventure Sync yet it’s not too late for either. There is still a week left of the event and Niantic has indicated that you can opt into the Adventure Sync at any point.
