Players are Bombarding Animal Crossing: News Horizons with Memes and More

So, aside from everything else that’s happening in the world right now, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is pretty popular.

The game boasts the familiar society-building antics of the franchise’s golden years, with added 2020 for good measure. Catered as a ‘Nintendo’ game (ie, family-friendly), New Horizons brings players to their very own island. There, they can do it up as they see fit.

In keeping with that sense of customisation, players can upload their own images via the dedicated Animal Crossing pattern tool: ACPatterns.com.

Three developers – Thulinma, DamSenViet, and Myumi – have helped create the tool. The programme lets you convert any image (yes, any image) into Animal Crossing via QR codes. These images can then be uploaded to New Horizons using the official companion app.

Naturally, players have brought all manner of content to their islands. I’ll let your mind fill in the blanks.

Not the Sort of Bells Tom Nook Was Counting On!

Yes it’s created some top quality Animal Crossing memeage. However, one of ACPatterns’ developers has looked to try and put a stop to the…shall we say, NSFW content created.

Taking to the comments section on Eurogamer, Thulinma noted:

“We did not expect this amount of attention and bad behaviour from the internet (whoops…).

For now, we’ve set the database to be ‘all patterns pending approval’ and will assemble a team of moderators to get rid of all the bad stuff and let through the good stuff”.

I wonder just how many Animal Crossing dongs made it into the game before Thulinma made this comment. Poor Isabelle. Poor Tom. Just think of the children, guys! And KK Slider! Actually, he’d probably be alright with it.
