Paradox Nearly Cancelled Vampire Bloodlines 2

Following a tumultuous development, Paradox has recently revealed it nearly pulled the plug on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

Following a series of delays – and the controversy surrounding Chris Avellone – things certainly did not look good for the title.

And, evidently, it was actually worse than you might think.

Speaking to Placera, Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester noted;

“When we lifted the game from the original developer, we had a long review in case we should end the game or run it further. Then we were actually prepared to close the production completely.

But we got a ‘pitch’ that we thought was convincing enough to run. [We] played on and we have very good hopes that it will be a good game that meets the players’ expectations”.

It’s obviously not easy for a new developer to pick up the pieces of a project from another studio. One issue (of many) surrounding the disaster that is Duke Nukem Forever was that it swapped hands part-way through production. Similar story with Mass Effect Andromeda.

Hopefully, Paradox will be able to do the IP justice. As of time of press, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 still does not have a, confirmed, release date.
