So let me get this straight. Square Enix just dropped a trailer on Twitter showing off some more of Forspoken. The monologue sounds a bit cringy. And now Twitter trolls have started making parody videos mocking the trailer with their own monologues? Yeah, that sounds about right.
Square Enix’s latest Forpsoken trailer has gotten a lot of attention but for the wrong reasons. The game was recently delayed until 2023, however, the developers decided to market the game via Twitter using a short teaser trailer. It did not go to plan. Twitter users thought the whole video smelled just a little bit too much like cheese, especially the dialogue. This is what the protagonist Frey says:
“So let me get this straight. I’m somewhere that’s not what I would call Earth… I’m seeing freaking dragons… And… Oh yeah, I’m talking to a cuff. Yeah okay, that is something I do now. I do magic, kill jacked-up beasts, I’ll probably fly next.”
There are already a bunch of parodies of Forspoken’s speech. There is a Bloodborne one, a quote from the God of War Kratos himself and one where Mario contemplates his situation in fictional New York.
