Netflix still wants to make a Stranger Things game despite Telltale closure

After news of layoffs at Telltale Games amid shutting down, Netflix has confirmed that although Telltale is no longer working on a Stranger Things game, it still hopes to continue the project. Netflix has also confirmed Telltale will complete its interactive TV adaptation of Minecraft: Story Mode.

Telltale partnered up with Netflix in June, with the news that the collaboration would produce two initial projects. One is an adaptation of Netflix’s 80s sci-fi show Stranger Things and a 5-episode interactive TV revision of 2015 Minecraft: Story Mode.

Netflix has confirmed the Telltale Stranger Things project is dead, and “in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.” Minecraft: Story Mode is “still moving forward as planned” at the studio.

Below is a video of early footage of Telltale’s now canceled Stranger Things.
