In the last couple days Niantic has been feverishly announcing a number of updates that are coming soon to Pokémon GO.
Mythical Pokémon Celebi
Pokémon Trainers are you ready for a new set of Special Research tasks? Today, Niantic announced new Special Research tasks starting on August 20, 2018. Completion of these task will reward you with Mythical Pokémon Celebi.
What if you haven’t completed the Special Research tasks for Mew yet? Maybe you’re still trying to get enough Magikarp candies to evolve to a Gyarados. No need to worry. Niantic has confirmed that you only need to have completed the 3rd group of tasksto be able to do the new tasks.
Celebi first made an appearance at GO Fest in Chicago this year. If you were lucky enough to catch Celebi at that time you will not be able to get a second Celebi. You will, however, earn additional Candy to power up your Celebi if you complete the tasks again.
Legendary Pokémon Regirock
Over the past few months we have seen Legendary Pokémon Registeel and Regice appear in Raids, now it’s Regirock’s turn. Regirock will begin appearing in Raids on August 16 and be around until September 20.
Remember Trainers that Regirock is weak to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground and Steel type attacks.
Parents are often concerned about the security of their child’s personal information. Although a large number of Pokémon GO Trainers are adults there are still a fair number of children. The additional of the Friends List ability heightened the concern for increased security for younger Trainers.
Niantic has created Niantic Kids to help alleviate this concern. Niantic Kids, powered by SuperAwesome, will allow parents “to manage their child’s privacy via the parent portal.” It gives parents the ability to approve their child’s permissions and information being shared before they play the game.
