Let’s be honest, Skyrim’s swordplay has always come up short when compared to magic and bow builds. In an attempt to spruce up the combat, modder Lert Krush created Skyrim Die Twice.
The mod draws clear inspiration from Sekiro’s parry and riposte combat system and even allows the deflection of arrows! Players are required to drain the opponents’ stamina to break their guard and follow up with a flurry of attacks.
Sadly the mod doesn’t improve much on Skyrim’s janky animations, but what do you expect from an 8-year-old game? Even so, the mod does make you much more agile adding ninja-like dodge rolls. Further emulating Sekiro’s combat, visual cues are added to really help nail the timing.
Although the mod is complete and fully functional it is not yet publicly available. It is actually a modification of already existing mod Ultimate Combat SE. The developer will need to get permission from the mods original creator before this version can be published.
What do you think about this take on Skyrim’s combat? A welcome change or should we just stick to sneaking with our bow? Let us know in the comments below!
