Microsoft ID@Xbox and Twitch Gaming Showcasing Indie Games Highlights

Twitch Gaming and ID@Xbox showcased what is heading our way from the Indie Dev’s

Did you miss the Microsoft & Twitch partnership showcasing the Indie games? Never fear ABG is here. We have put together a summary of the games that were shown for your perusal. Microsoft has shown itself to be a behemoth when it comes to games and this has been confirmed by its new ID@Xbox indie showcase which was broadcast live on Twitch on the 26th March 2021

ID@XBOX is the Independent & Digital games publishing program for the Xbox ecosystem. This showcase was used to highlight more than 100 games from indie developers all over the world.

The showcase started with gameplay videos of the following games:

ExoMecha

This gameplay trailer had the Twitch chat exploding with excited chatter. It is a Free to Play online competitive First Person Shooter that takes place on the a planet called Omecha.

The Ascent

This is an upcoming cyberpunk themed action role-playing video game developed by Swedish indie game studio Neon Giant and published by Curve Digital. The game takes place within an arcology in a futuristic dystopian world known as Veles, controlled by a powerful megacorporation called “The Ascent Group”. Players assume control of a worker enslaved by the company. After the mysterious collapse of The Ascent Group, the arcology descends into a chaotic free-for-all pitting districts, syndicates and rival corporations against each other for control. The players role is to stop other factions from seizing control and uncover the mystery behind the demise of The Ascent Group.

Omno

Tells the story of discovery through ancient world of wonders.

Omno is a third person adventure by solo developer Jonas Manke.  It will take you through lush forests, across a sun blasted desert, over a frigid tundra, and the power of a lost civilisation will even carry you to the clouds. On the way you will meet strange creatures, encounter many surprises and maybe make a friend. Besides offering an interactive world, Omno challenges you with puzzles, hidden secrets and obstacles to overcome in 3D puzzle platformer style.

So what is ID@XBOX?

Chris Charla joined the presenters to explain what ID@XBOX is about. For those who do not know it is a program by Microsoft allowing independent video game developers to self-publish titles for Windows and the Xbox One home video game console.

The show continued with Moonglow Bay a fishing RPG and the Co-founders of BunnyHug Zach & Lu joined the stream to tell the viewers about the game and its development journey.

Following a short intermission we were shown more game trailer reveals. These included:

Art of Rally – this looks like a a stylized rally experience from the creator of Absolute Drift

Craftopia – imagine a mix and match of different game genres and you will be close to what Craftopia is. Chop trees and mine stones as in Sandbox. Explore the world as in Open-world. Fight the hunger as in Survival. Cultivate and harvest as in Farming. Collect loots in dungeons as in Hack-and-slash. Automate activities as in Factory management. Hunt monsters and creatures as in Hunting action. Cast magical spells as in Fantasy RPG. You will then have Craftopia.

Rust – unless you have been living in a cave you will have at least heard of Rust.

Narita Boy – there is an awesome article about this game, which can be found here: Narita Boy

Hello Neighbor 2 – This is a stealth horror game where you are being stalked by a mysterious creature as you try to track down Mr. Peterson (The Neighbour) who has disappeared after the events of the first game. Play against an advanced, self-learning AI that tracks and adapts to your every move.

ID@XBOX are not done yet.

Close on the heals of the above game trailer reveals we were introduced to Soup Pot and there was an entertaining chat with the developers at Chikon Club Studio. Cook freely with Soup Pot! Make food with a wide range of locally sourced or supermarket ingredients in traditional kitchens. Discover and learn about more than 100 recipes while streaming your cooking on Cookbook, the social media.

More Indie Dev Chat Time

Nobody Saves The World has been developed by Drinkbox Studios. Ian and Graham from said studios joined the stream for a chat about the game and its development. This game is an action RPG which features dynamic and engaging environments. This is achieved through procedurally generated dungeons which differ each time you play.

Next Up Never Seen Before Game Trailers

Astria Ascending is written by Kazushige Nojima and composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto. Its graphics are reminiscent of a moving painting, and the game features elements of both fantasy and science-fiction. While the world is the same as the previous game, the story has been overhauled and is more serious. The game features over 100 songs, including those from the previous game, as well as Japanese voice-overs. Other changes include reversed character positioning during battle.

Last Oasis is a Nomadic Survival MMO. Earth has stopped rotating, and the last human survivors need to outrun the scorching Sun in a massive Open World. Traverse the world on your walker: a wooden, wind-powered machine

Lawn Mowing Sim – this title pretty much speaks for itself!
