Marvel’s Avengers Sees Biggest Increase in Player-Count in Months

Marvel’s Avengers was recently given a free trial weekend (29th July-1st August) on PlayStation, Steam, and Stadia.

The trial was used as a way to drum up interest ahead of the upcoming Black Panther-inspired DLC, War for Wakanda.

As a result, player counts soared.

Taking a look at the game’s SteamDB page, around 830 people were playing the game just before the weekend started.

However, that number rose to a high of 10,224 on the 1st of August.

And, as of time of press at least, some 5,000 players were still playing.

Admittedly, this is still an underwhelming figure considering the studios involved and the IP used.

This will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the game’s woes.

Regardless, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are still plodding along with Marvel’s Avengers.

The Black Panther – War for Wakanda expansion is available later this month.

Whether this will be enough to rekindle the game’s drooping fanbase will remain to be seen.
