Long-term GTA Producer Leaves Rockstar

ABG would like to wish Lazlow Jones all the best in his post-Rockstar world. After nearly 20 years entertaining us, all we can say in return is, “thank you”.

After eight games and two decades of service, Lazlow Jones is leaving Rockstar.

For anyone wondering who Lazlow Jones is, he just so happens to be one of Rockstar’s veteran writers, producers,…and the voice of DJ/Personality Lazlow in Grand Theft Auto.

Yes, that one.

Making his GTA debut back in 2001’s GTA III, Lazlow has appeared in the following games since;

  • GTA III
  • Vice City
  • San Andreas
  • Vice City Stories
  • Liberty City Stories
  • GTA IV
  • Episodes From Liberty City [The Ballad of Gay Tony/The Lost & The Damned]
  • GTA V*
  • GTA Online
  • *Lazlow made his “physical” debut in GTA V – by which we mean, we saw the character, Lazlow, as opposed to just hearing him

Turns out, Lazlow has been in more GTA games than most people realise.

In some games, he’s been a non-diegetic voice (mainly as a radio DJ/personality). In others, he’s been a TV host. Either way, he’s been a part of the Rockstar family for 19 years. It turns out, Lazlow actually left Rockstar back in April.

As Lazlow himself revealed, he has become a full-time carer for his terminally-ill sister. Given the current situation going on, this can’t be the easiest of things to do, but we will do anything for our family. ABG wishes to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to Lazlow for continuous entertainment over the last 20 years.
