Hideo Kojima has put to rest online rumours that PlayStation Studios has acquired Kojima Productions.
The rumours started when PlayStation Studios updated its banner of first-party IPs it has released.
Among the many titles showcased includes; Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank: A Rift in Time, Santa Monica’s God of War: Ragnarok, Sucker Punch’s Ghost Tsushima, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II, and Kojima’s Death Stranding.
There is one main key difference between the shown titles and associated developers; Kojima Production is still an independent studio.
Kojima retweeted himself, noting;
“I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, but KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has been and will continue to be an independent studio”.
However, Bluepoint infamously stated something similar following a leaked image. And then, it was later revealed to have been acquired by PlayStation Studios.
So, this could be a case of the PlayStation Studios telling us more than we publicly know currently…or just that it was adding a successful title to its marketing. Either way, I suppose we’ll find out in due time.
