Videogame movies and shows have earned an infamously bad reputation throughout the years. Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li are all great examples of games that should have stayed in their own genres. However, Derek Kolstad, the man behind John Wick, doesn’t seem to be deterred by trend.
Kolstad has a multitude of game-related projects in the making. He’s currently making shows based on Splinter Cell, My Friend Pedro as well as Hitman. Additionally, Kolstad is also working on a Just Cause and a Streets of Rage movie. And Now it seems like he’s adding yet another project to the list.
According to Deadline Derek Kolstad is writing and producing a film based on Sloclop’s kung-fu beat ’em up Sifu. Story Kitchen and Sloclop’s excellent Sifu certainly seem like an adaptable franchise to move to the big screen. And with the brain responsible for John Wick at the helm what could go wrong?
