Jack Black, most well known for being one half of metal group Tenacious D and all-round great guy, has been cast as the sarcastic robot Claptrap, in the upcoming Borderlands movie.
Jack Black’s casting complements the already star-studded cast of the upcoming film, which was teased six years ago.
Joining JB will be Jaime- Lee Curtis (Halloween, Knives Out) as the archaeologist Tannis, Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), as soldier Roland and Cate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings, Thor: Ragnarok) as thief Lilith.
The film itself is being written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and directed by Eli Roth, who had this to say on JB’s appointment as Claptrap:
I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen
The film itself is set to enter production this year, Covid depending, but a release date has yet to be announced.
