As we all know Microsoft bought Bethesda earlier this year. And even though Xbox head-honcho Phil Spencer explained that the purchase was mostly about acquiring exclusives many gamers still hoped and trusted that games like Fallout 5, Starfield, and the next Elder Scrolls were coming to all platforms nonetheless.
Maybe that’s why in an interview with GQ Spencer gave a much clearer statement recently. In the interview, Spencer confirms that The Elder Scrolls VI will follow the path of Starfield by releasing exclusively on PC and Xbox. This is what he had to say about it:
“It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow. But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”Phil Spencer
So unless you play on PC or Xbox you won’t be able to play the next Elder Scrolls game when it eventually comes out. However, we’ll have to wait a fair few years before The Elder Scrolls VI sees the light of day.
