Hideo Kojima has been making games for nearly 30 years now. And wether you enjoy his eccentric take on the medium you can’t deny the fact that he has had a major impact on the gaming industry. BAFTA will now present him with The Fellowship award because of this. The Fellowship is the highest accolade BAFTA gives out. Kojima is of course known for the Metal Gear Solid games and most recently Death Stranding.
According to BAFTA’s official website The Fellowship award is presented to a “person’s creative contributions to film, television, or games.” Other notable people to win The Fellowship are Tim Schafer, John Carmack,, Gabe Newell, Peter Molyneux, Shigeru Miyamoto. As you can see it’s a rather impressive line-up. This is what Kojima had to say.
“Thank you very much for this precious BAFTA Fellowship award. I am very honored, and would like to take this moment to reflect on the many predecessors that came before me, as I deeply respect their contributions to entertainment, whether in movies, television, or games. I would also like to thank those who have supported me over the years and I will continue my commitment to creating new and innovative ways that will push the world of ‘play’ entertainment forward.”
Congratulations Hideo Kojima for an outstanding career and tremendous work.
