Hideo Kojima Eyes Up Making New Horror Game

Following the runaway success of Death Stranding (seriously, you should see the ABG group chat!), all eyes are on Hideo Kojima. The eccentric genius of the industry, Kojima has often been a focal point for redefining genres and conventions. One genre that Kojima himself seems keen to take on is horror.

(Technically speaking, Kojima has produced a horror game before, that being the creepy as all hell P.T. But as that was more of an interactive teaser than a fully-fledged game, I’m disqualifying it. And yes, I know that P.T was an announcement for the cancelled Silent Hills game. And yes, I know that that too was worked on by Kojima, but again, not fully-fledged!)

Recently, Kojima took to Twitter to express how he is “trying to awaken my horror soul”. This was in reference to watching scary movies in an effort to inspire him to make a horror game.

Haunting Hideo

Kojima Tweeted, saying;

“As to make the scariest horror game, I’ll watch the scary movies in order to awaken my horror soul. THE EYE is the Thai horror movie I rent when making PT but was too scary to finish watching. The package is scary so I rented the disc only. Will I be able to finish watching?”

With any luck for Kojima fans, it won’t be as long as we all had to wait before Death Stranding came out. However, whether or not a Kojima Productions horror game turns out to be a real thing, it’s good to see him not one to rest on his laurels. And if it’ll be anything like Death Stranding, well, the man might be able to list another genre he’s flipped onto its head.

Good news as well. The Any Button Gaming Death Stranding review will be online soon. Whilst you wait, you could always check out some of our other fine reviews or content.
