Microsoft Game Studios’ Gears 5, Halo, and now State of Decay 2 will all be available on Steam next year.
Developers Undead Labs confirmed State of Decay 2’s Steam release 23rd November via an update. The Steam page lists that State of Decay 2 will be available from “early 2020”. On the release of State of Decay 2 on Stream, Undead Labs said the following;
“…we are dedicated to serving a passionate community of fans and are continuously listening to feedback. Our goal is to always be a fan-first studio. One of the top requests we get is to bring State of Decay 2 to Steam. …We are happy to announce State of Decay 2 is coming to Steam in early 2020 for all of our fans to enjoy!
The original State of Decay and remastered Year One: Survival Edition found a home and an enthusiastic community on Steam. And we are excited for State of Decay 2 to join them. State of Decay 2 on Steam will feature Xbox Live cross-play. This will enable you to play with up to three friends across your platforms of choice. After all, no one survives alone!”https://www.stateofdecay.com/2019/11/22/state-of-decay-2-is-coming-to-steam/
Halo: The Master Chief Collection was revealed to be headed to Steam back in March. And Gears of War 5 launched on the Xbox store and on the Steam store back in September. This matches up with Phil Spencer’s plans to help Xbox’s reach by expanding its games onto competing storefronts.
