Guerrilla to Sunset Killzone Online Capabilities in August

Guerrilla, the studio behind Horizon: Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, has announced it will shut down online functions for various Killzone titles.

The Killzone series hasn’t seen an entry since 2013’s Shadow Fall.

However, the servers have remained active on a number of titles since, including Killzone: Mercenary and even non-Killzone property RIGS: Mechanized Combat League.

That will come to an end on 12th August, however, as Guerrilla will sunset online servers;

“On 12 August 2022, online servers for Killzone: Mercenary, Killzone Shadow Fall (including Intercept Mode) and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League will shut down.

Online features (including online multiplayer modes will cease on that date.

Single player offline modes remain available”.

It’s always sad when a popular title sees its online functions close down.

However, the servers were active for nearly a decade, which is quite an achievement considering.
