I think it’s safe to say, that production on the next instalment of Rockstars GTA series is fully underway. That is unless, Sam and Dan Houser, woke up today after counting their billions of dollars… Read the title of this article, and jumped up from their beds shouting “Sh*t! We need to start the next one!?”
Well, according to an Ex-Rockstar employee, the game is still a fair way from release. Darion Lowenstein, a prestigious producer in the games industry, recently had a call with equity research firm Jefferies. In the released statement Lowenstein claims that we should ‘not expect GTA VI any time soon’.
After the monumental success of GTA V, which has made around $6 Billion since it’s release in 2013, we aren’t expecting Rockstar to be in any kind of hurry to get the next entry out.
In the statement Lowenstein proposes “His absolute best-case-scenario for a game release is Holiday 2021, though he does not expect an announcement / trailer anytime soon,”
It goes on to say “We’ve seen online rumors and have heard client speculation that a trailer could drop as early as next month, but Darion’s take is that investors / gamers will have to wait longer.”
Given the release window of past games, namely Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 (released in 2010 and 2018 respectively) , the time frame of holiday 2021 seems to fit. Whenever we get our hands on it though, Rockstar has proven that taking it’s time pays off. We can’t wait to see what the next generation of GTA brings.
