Are you as surprised as I am? I for one never thought that Sucker Punch’s samurai epic Ghost of Tsushima would get a multiplayer mode.

Well, here we are. Because senior game-designer Darren Bridges announced yesterday, in a PlayStation Blog post, that a new multiplayer-mode coming this fall. The new multiplayer expansion is called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and will be released as a free update.

Bridges says that the new multiplayer mode is specifically designed to be played with at least two people. You can either play with your friends or team up via matchmaking. However, you will need a playstation plus subscription to be able to play.

Japanese Myth And Magic

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends won’t be following the main protagonist Jin Sakai. Instead, this new update will feature four new characters based on legends from the main game. The four new classes are samurai, hunter, ronin, and assassin. The battles will have a heavier focus on the supernatural. Both locations and enemies are inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will support three different mission types. There are co-op story missions that can only be played by two people, you and a friend.

Bridges says “these missions will be building on the foundation of combat from the single-player campaign but with new magical twists that often require careful synchronization with your partner.”

Also, there are four-player survival missions where you fight increasingly difficult waves of enemies including magic casting Oni demons. And finally, there’s a raid, designed for four players, which will “send you and your partners to an entirely new realm to challenge a brutal, terrifying enemy.”

What do you think about Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
