Ghost of Tsushima Getting Multiplayer and New Game+

Ghost of Tsushima Getting Multiplayer and New Game+

Ghost of Tsushima will be getting a big, new update later this month that brings, amongst other things, multiplayer and New Game+ modes.

Version 1.1 will be free for players who own Ghost of Tsushima and goes live 16th October.

It’s a hefty update, so we’ll break down some highlights as to what 1.1 will bring.

Single-Player updates

New Game+

As the official Ghost of Tsushima blog post notes;

“If you’ve already beaten Ghost of Tsushima, you’ll find the option to re-embark on Jin’s Journey in New Game+. You’ll start New Game+ from the release to the open world, shortly after Jin’s initial confrontation with the Khan. You’ll keep all of the Techniques, Gear, and Vanity items obtained in a previous playthrough. The difficulty will be increased to provide a new challenge (but you can still adjust it down in the menu)”.

As well as that, there’s a new horse exclusive to the New Game+ campaign, featuring “vibrant red mane”, as well as a “unique saddle”. New, powerful Charms will be available that will enable Jin to unleash devastating new attacks. Plus, there’s additional upgrades for your equipment, including you sword, bow, and armour.

And all you Trophy hunters out there will be glad to hear that New Game+ also brings about some new trophies to hunt down. Sucker Punch notes that these new trophies will not count towards your Ghost of Tsushima Platinum Trophy.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends/Multiplayer mode

Legends will launch a new, online multiplayer mode to the game, for free. In Legends, you’ll be able to fight alongside your friends, and will also be able to choose one of four distinct classes;

  • Samurai; Samurai players can run straight toward combat and stay there, sustaining their health while chopping enemies down left and right. When you’re overwhelmed, use the Hachiman’s Fury ultimate attack to slash through enemies in a flurry of strikes.
  • Hunter; As a Hunter, you can stand on the edge of combat and snipe enemies before they even see you. You can also use explosive arrows to slow down groups, and when the combat gets really fierce, the Eye of Uchitsune ultimate attack will unleash multiple arrows straight at your enemies’ heads.
  • Ronin; Ronin players can revive their entire team with the Breath of Izanami ultimate ability. You might play Ronin because you want to help your human friends… or you might do it because the Ronin class is also able to summon a Spirit Dog. (And yes, you can ABSOLUTELY pet your Spirit Dog!)
  • Assassin; If you prefer doing massive damage with a single attack, you’ll love the Assassin. The Shadow Strike ultimate attack will allow you to teleport across the battlefield and directly strike your enemies. If that’s not intimidating enough, wait until you see the terrifying masks the Assassin gets to wear!

Whatever path you choose to take, you’ll be able to complete special, multiplayer mode story mission with a friend. These missions will see you meet up with a new character, Gyozen the Storyteller, who will tell you what really happened in Tsushima.

There’s also a Survival mode and a Raid mode available to you through multiplayer, that will test you and your friends to the limit.

What Else?

Aside from all of the above (which, just in case you were wondering, is only a small handful of what the new update will feature), 1.1 also features some quality-of-life improvements.

A new armour load-out will be present after installation. These load-outs will allow you to customise your perfect armour sets, complete with vanity items and charms, and swap back-and-forth as you please.

Lastly (at least, for our round-up of 1.1), you’ll see a more robust version of the already impressive photo mode. You’ll have more features to play around with and snap that perfect shot of your ninjas in action. Plus, it’s being implemented into Legends, too!
