Fortnite Live Event “The Device” Breaks Twitch Record

The latest in game event in Fortnite was an overwhelming success, with Epic Games releasing their event statistics.

Epic confirmed on Twitter that a total of 12 million players were in game during the event.

As mentioned in the above tweet, Epic had to cap the amount of players to ensure the stability during The Device event.

Understandably players were frustrated to not be able to attend live in game despite showing up early as advised by the developer.

The led to more than 2.3 million people watching via Twitch, setting a new record for concurrent viewers of a single game on the platform.

Epic have stated their intent to ensure more players will be able to attend the in-game events live in the future.

“As we push the edge of what live-events can be, we’re improving systems so more of you can experience them in-game.”

Epic have also confirmed that season 3 of Fortnite will begin next Wednesday June 17th, teasing a water themed season, commenting to fans “We can’t wait for you to dive in!”

Whether you love or hate the game, it continues on like a juggernaut with no signs of slowing… disregarding the server stability.
